Subsidy amount for Residential Households:

The government is providing subsidies to encourage households to adopt rooftop solar power and reduce dependency on conventional power sources.

  • For rooftop solar systems up to 2 kW capacity, the subsidy is Rs. 30,000 per kW.
  • For Additional capacity, up to 3 kW, you will get a subsidy of Rs. 18,000 per kW.
  • The total subsidy for systems larger than 3 kW is capped at Rs. 78,000.

Suitable Rooftop Solar Plant Capacity:

The suitable capacity of your rooftop solar plant depends on your average monthly electricity consumption.

  • If your monthly consumption is 0-150 units, a 1-2 kW capacity is suitable.
  • For consumption between 150-300 units, you can opt for a 2-3 kW capacity.
  • If your monthly consumption is more than 300 units per month, consider a capacity above 3 kW.

Subsidy amount for Group Housing Society/Resident Welfare Association (GHS/RWA):

Group housing societies or RWAs can also benefit from subsidies.

They receive Rs. 18,000 per kW for common facilities, including EV charging, up to 500 kW capacity.
